If you like non stop action, special effects and a lot of CGI then you will love the 2nd installment of “ Kingsman: The Golden Circle”. Fast moving with funny lines and leading men so good to look at, it’s a high octane ride. And of course we knew there was no way you can kill off Eggsy’s Mentor Harry Hart(played by Colin Firth) who was found and kept alive with a gadget that restored his brain but leaves him with amnesia as its side effect.
With a new female villain Poppy(Julianne Moore) bent on getting famous but wants to be pardoned for her crimes as she sets a plan in motion to destroy all the Kingsman agents then poison millions of American drug users. But wait there an is antidote which she will offer only if the President of the United States signs her petition for immunity. And there is more when the American version of the ‘Kingsman” with tobacco chewing and lasso throwing agents (played by Channing Tatum and Pedro Pascal) meet up with Eggsy and Merlin(Mark Strong). Yes the jokes are funny all about British Manners… you get the idea. This US branch called
“ Statesman” headed by Champ(played by Beau Bridges) is ready to save the world and has unlimited money and resources to help our English counterparts save the world from the nefarious Poppy. Charlie(Edward Holcroft) returns who was the only survivor from the head exploding finale in ‘Kingsman:The Secret Service” is now fitted with a bionic arm that throws a mean upper cut is now recruited by Poppy and out for revenge.
There is also a romance for Eggsy(Taron Egerton) with a bland Princess(Hanna Alstrom)which is not really exciting but who cares when you get to see Taron’s beautiful face as he professes his undying love. And of course there is a long Elton John cameo who is captured by Poppy for her personal enjoyment.
Allright, I could go on and on but no matter how lame the storyline and the implausible plot twists head out to the theaters this weekend grab a big bag of popcorn, your favorite drink and enjoy the ride!
