Big Bear Hosts Inaugural Yoga Festival; Lindsay Wagner to Keynote

0

Big Bear City, CA — Big Bear Yoga will present the inaugural Big Bear Yoga Festival August 23 – 25 at YMCA Camp Oakes, featuring multilevel yoga workshops, live music, healthy cuisine, and Lindsay Wagner as the keynote speaker. Aside from being an award-winning actress, Wagner is an energy medicine advocate and the co-author of two books: The High Road to Health, a best-selling vegetarian lifestyle cookbook that will be on sale at the festival, and Lindsay Wagner’s New Beauty: The Acupressure Facelift.

Wagner first rose to prominence with her Emmy award-winning role as The Bionic Woman, then graced over 40 TV movies, five mini-series, and 12 feature films. She has released a meditation CD “Open to Oneness” and used her study of holistic healing to develop ‘Quiet the Mind & Open the Heart’ workshops and retreats. She has presented these in Canada, Mexico, Europe, and across the U.S., including the prestigious Omega Institute in New York.

The workshops are designed to help overcome personal challenges while using practices that integrate mind, body, and soul.  Wagner has delivered keynote addresses for such organizations as the Woman Arising Conference in Sedona, AZ, Akasha Metaphysical Film Festival in Carmel, CA, Mile Hi Church in Lakewood, CO, and the Mind, Body, Spirit Expo in Voorhees, NJ. Given her popularity in this field, the producers of the Big Bear Yoga Festival are excited about her local keynote address, scheduled for August 24 at 10:30 a.m. at YMCA Camp Oakes (47400 Monte Vista Drive, off Hwy. 38). Wagner’s keynote address is sponsored by Flanigan Farms, who sells natural, unsalted nuts, seeds, and trail mixes. They will be offering a cooking demo on Saturday at 2 pm and free samples of Cashew Butter or Walnut Pesto! Flanigan Farms is also providing their products for meals at the festival. The entire Big Bear Yoga Festival will take place at Camp Oakes from August 23 to August 25. Attendees can choose from health & wellness lectures, a wide range of yoga classes, food, live music, and guided meditation — along with outdoor recreation like a climbing wall, a ropes course, canoeing, an observatory, and a swimming pool.

All ages and abilities are welcome. The “Beginners Track” will offer easy classes and therapeutic yoga. More advanced students can attend the more intense sessions, try a new style of yoga, or deepen their current practice. Other classes include Belly Dance Stretch (Belly-O), Laughter Yoga, Kirtan (call and response singing, and lectures on topics such as Financial Health and Eating Healthy.

The Festival will host excellent yoga teachers from all over Southern California, including instructors from The Yoga Room of Redlands (www.redlandsyoga.com), Western Yoga College of Riverside (www.westernyogacollege.com), and Green Tara Yoga of Upland (www.greentarayoga.com).

Yoga Das will explore musical spirituality with Grammy nominated Lisa Kekaula. In addition, Camp Oakes boasts amenities such as hiking trails, an observatory, inside and outside yoga spaces, an outside amphitheater with fire circle for music, a climbing wall, a ropes course, a swimming pool, and even a small lake for canoeing! All classes and activities are included with purchase of ticket.

Optional meals are also included in the cost of festival attendance so that everyone has an opportunity to “break bread” with new friends.   Tickets for Big Bear Yoga Festival are available online at www.BigBearYogaFestival.com, along with a schedule of classes, roster of teachers, vendor, and sponsorship opportunities and accommodations available at Camp Oakes — including camping, RV camping, and dorm-style housing.
