Hollywood’s biggest award show came to end with some expected wins; as predicted Matthew Mc Conaughey won for Best Actor for his portrayal of  Ron Woodroof  in “Dallas Buyers Club.”

On stage besides thanking the Academy for the honor, he also thanked God saying;

“There’s a few things, about three things to my account that I need each day. One of them is something to look up to, another is something to look forward to, and another is someone to chase. Now, first off, I want to thank God. ‘Cause that’s who I look up to. He has graced my life with opportunities that I know are not of my hand or any other human hand. He has shown me that it’s a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates. In the words of the late Charlie Laughton, who said, “When you’ve got God, you got a friend. And that friend is you.”

Kudos to Matthew for taking home the Golden Statue, he delivered a stellar performance in “Dallas Buyers Club,” and not just by changing his physical appearance but his ability to own the essence of the individual he portrayed.

It was no surprise that Cate Blanchett  took the Best Actress for “Blue Jasmine.”  In her backstage interview she was asked about the pressure involved as a nominee and she replied, “ What kind of pressure?  An intense, unbearable pressure which I’m so glad is over.  I mean, look, it has been every year.  And having been in theatre primarily for the last six years, I can say this objectively.  Every year I watch this thing remotely, and every year there are 5, 6, 10, 12, 20 performances by women that I am gobsmacked by and inspired by.  And you know, it gets whittled down to five ‑‑ is it five of us?  And I mean, to be in conversation with those women, you know, by proxy, because we are all crammed together into one category, I mean, that’s the privilege.  And the rest is just chocolate.”

Foreign Actress, Lupita Nyong’o accepted her Oscar with pure joy and gratitude on stage. In her back stage interview she was asked about the reaction in Kenya and if she had a message to share with her people, she stated, “Well, yeah.  It’s ‑‑ it’s ‑‑ I know that my country has been extremely proud of me.  I stumbled upon a big, big, big, like, good luck ‑‑ I don’t even know what to call it, but something at the rugby sevens in Las Vegas, and they created this big, big canvas saying thank you to me; and I stumbled ‑‑ stumbled upon it on Instagram.  And that was just amazing to see all of these hundreds of people holding up this thing saying good luck to me, and so I know I mean a lot to my countrymen, and I am so grateful for that kind of support from the entire world actually, that the entire world did not have a say in whether I got this or not, but the fact that I won in so many people’s hearts, that is incredible, and I am so grateful for that.”

Jared Leto’s riveting performance in ” Dallas Buyers Club” garnered him Best Supporting Actor.   On stage he gave a heartfelt speech acknowledging some of the drama on the world stage as he stated, “To all the dreamers out there around the world watching this tonight in places like the Ukraine and Venezuela, I want to say we are here and as you struggle to… to make your dreams happen, to live the impossible… We’re thinking of you tonight. And this is, is incredibly special as well because there’s so many people that helped me get here.”

Of course he also acknowledged all those who have suffered with the statement,” And this for the 36 million people who have lost the battle to AIDS and to those of you out there who have ever felt injustice because of who you are or who you love, tonight I stand here in front of the world with you and for you. Thank you so much and goodnight.”
