Free Winter Holiday Festival with tons of snow, Santa, the Elf Olympics and skating at Pershing Square Dec. 13-14.
Ho, ho, ho, it’s time to celebrate the holidays with a local escape to downtown LA where tons of snow, sledding, Santa, live entertainment and ice skating get underway at the Winter Holiday Festival Saturday and Sunday, December 13, 14 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm at Pershing Square.
Presented by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, the free event is part of the community outreach created to bring people together for wholesome family fun. “The Winter Holiday Festival has become such a popular tradition that this year we expanded it to two days so even more people could join in the celebration,” says Sophia Pina Cortez, Superintendent, City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks.
Happenings include free pictures with Santa, a train ride, sledding on tons of snow, and the new Elf Olympics with interactive games and prizes. The park will be bustling with an array of exhibitor booths, free “make ‘n’ take” arts & crafts, and an outdoor stage with non-stop performances by local community groups. As a special surprise, event sponsor UNIQLO, the global clothing retailer, will be on hand Saturdaygiving away free skating admission and skate rental to the first 1,000 enthusiasts from 11:30am to 6:30pm.
Pershing Square at 532 South Olive Street, is easily accessible by car, bus or Metro (Pershing Square stop). A partnership with Metro and Metrolink allows riders to receive a $1 skating session discount by showing their Metro/Metrolink transit receipt/pass. Underground discount parking is available with rink validation.
