David Oyelowo Talks About His New Movie ‘Selma’



David Oyelowo talks about his new movie,’Selma’ now playing in theaters.

Selma an American historical drama based on the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches led by James Bevel, Hosea Williams and Martin Luther King. Jr. The film is directed by Ava DuVernay and written by Paul Webb. Selma premiered at the American Film Institute Festival in November of 2014 and had a limited release in the United States on December 25th and opened to wide theatrical release on January 9th, 2015, just two months before the 50th anniversary of the march.  The film also stars Tom Wilkinson as President Lyndon Johnson, Common as James Bevel, Tim Roth as George Wallace and Carmen Ejogo as Coretta Scott King.


Selma was produced by Plan B Entertainment, Cloud Eight Films and Harpo Productions with financing by Pathe. It was distributed by Paramount Pictures. It had four Golden Globe nominations, including Best Motion Picture-Drama, Best Director, and won for Best Original Song.  It is also nominated for Best Picture and Best Original Song at the 87th Academy Awards.
