Milica’s leadership as a human rights advocate and activist has shed light on humanitarian crises across the globe,” said Hack-Rubinstein. “Her efforts around famine and education awareness and prevention link closely with the mission of the Friends of Fresh and Green Academy, and I am honored to have this opportunity to recognize Milica as an Emissary of Excellence. By speaking out for those whose voices might otherwise go unknown, Milica has been a beacon of hope, exposing hardships against humanity and advancing peacemaking through advocacy and action.”

The “Dancing with the Stews” gala is especially important this year as founder Hack-Rubinstein recently returned from visiting the Academy in Ethiopia with urgent news.  A portion of the land where the school is located is under threat of being developed. The new ownership is willing to sell it to the foundation, however the sale needs to happen soon to stop the owner from moving in the direction of development.  $135,000+ needs to be raised in addition to current foundation funds to secure the deed and get a loan for the remainder needed. This significant land has not only a portion of the school but other businesses that bring in much-needed rental income. Once the foundation is able to secure the land, it would receive rental income from the other businesses to pay off the loan.

The Dancing with the Stews fundraiser event will feature a combination of flight attendants and world class champion dancers including Jutem Lee & Ron Wild, Brian Nguyen & Merle Morgan, and Lam Nguyen & Jeff White, comedy, live music, and a silent auction.  The silent auction will be presented by Happy Hunting L.A. and will feature celebrity memorabilia, fashion jewelry, handbags, and accessories.
