The 22nd Annual Recent Spanish Cinema Film Series evening began with red carpet arrivals of Spanish and Latino talent, including the filmmakers Paula Ortiz (“La Novia”) & Javier Ruiz Caldera (“Spy Time”) and stars such as Goya Toledo, Patricia Riggen, Alex Whaite, Patricia Velasquez, Rafael Cebrian, Luis Miguel Segui, Reynaldo Pacheco, Alex Hafner, Roque Banos, Eduardo Cruz,Javier Gutierrez , Assumpta Serna and Leynar Gomez and Lucas Vidal among others.
An enthusiastic crowd of over 600 guests warmly received the opening night movie TRUMAN, directed by Cesc Gay, starring Ricardo Darin and Javier Cámara. The series has become an exceptional setting for the US Premieres of many successful Spanish films and thanks to the series it boots their opportunities for US distribution. It is a platform for Spanish filmmakers and actors, presenting Spanish Cinema to a wider audience in the United States.
The Recent Spanish Cinema series was honored with a Proclamation from The City of Los Angeles, in recognition for bringing Spanish Cinema to the City of Angels for 22 years. The Proclamation was bestowed by Borja Leon, Director of Transportation, City of Los Angeles.
