Pets are an integral part of the American family experience, bonding families, healing souls, and bringing love into one’s heart. Directed by Chris Renaud, The Secret Life of Pets 2 is a heartwarming tale of love, loyalty, friendship, and the meaning of family.

In this latest version, Terrier Max(voiced by Patton Oswalt ) does not like children and is not looking to bond with any; his life has a routine that he thoroughly enjoys until his owner (Ellie Kemper)gets married and has baby Liam. At first, Max is not happy about this at all, but slowly he bonds with Liam and has become overprotective. His neurotic concern becomes so bad he develops a nervous tic. Hoping to cure Max, his owner takes him to the vet in the hopes for a solution, but Max leaves with a collar around his neck.

Things don’t get better when the family goes off on a holiday trip to the farm. It gets worse at the farm when Max and Duke(voiced by Eric Stonestreet) encounter intolerant cows, hostile foxes, and a terrifying Turkey. All of which heightens Max’s anxiety. Farm life is not in the cards for Max, but he encounters Rooster(voiced by Harrison Ford) a veteran farm dog who pushes Max beyond his limits and shows him how to let go of his fears.

While Max and Duke are away, his friends are dealing with their own problems. Pomeranian Gidget(voiced by Jenny Slate) tries to rescue Max’s favorite toy from a cat-packed apartment with help from Chole(voiced by Lake Bell). Snowball(voiced by Kevin Hart) thinks he is a superhero, but when Daisy (voiced by Tiffany Haddish) shows up to asks for his help to rescue a caged tiger, Snowball has to step up to be the best version of himself.

Packed with humor and touching on key life topics this new chapter explores the emotional lives of our pets, the deep bond between them and the families that love them, and along with the laughs a better feeling about ourselves. This film is excellent for all ages, so grab your family and friends sit back and enjoy “The Secret Life of Pets 2”.  Opening in theaters Friday, June 7th.
