A Fresh New Comedy Series about Crazy-Ass Moms in Gentrifying Venice Beach. Created by Korean Actress & Comedian Judy Jean Kwon.
The series follows a quirky, Korean-American punk, named Pepper who never fit in anywhere struggles with ethnic barriers, and class lines especially amongst other women but when she gets knocked up, Pepper is forced to friend the crazy moms in Venice Beach to find a way to belong.

About Judy Jean Kwon Judy Jean Kwon is a talented Korean-American, Actress and Comedian born and raised in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Known for her stand up comedy alter-ego Yo-Mama Rice, she also posts an entertaining blog about advice, eats and laughs from Yo-Mama Rice. She is the creator and star of MILFriend, a Fresh New Comedy about Crazy-Ass Moms in Gentrifying Venice Beach, California, loosely based on her experience as a Korean-American immigrant, always on the outside trying to fit in.
She is forging forward and producing her own content with creative partner and husband, Richard Henkels under their banner OORI POP (‘Oori’ means ‘Us’ in Korean). They have multiple projects in development and are hoping to have MILFriend picked up by a platform for a full season order.
Judy Jean Kwon’s early years were spent at a video store, owned by her immigrant parents, where she fell in love with the art of filmmaking and storytelling. Kwon’s mission is to tells stories about the underdogs that are mostly ignored. Her big break came when she proudly beat out over 300 Caucasian actors and landed the lead role in the famous “Philip’s flat TV” commercial and has since appeared in over 100 commercials and the feature Making the Rules, starring Jamie Pressly. She continues to break barriers for ethnic actors.
