The new life-affirming musical drama THE CUBAN stars Oscar and Emmy- winner Louis Gossett Jr. (AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, “Roots”, “Watchmen”), Ana Golja (“Degrassi: Next Class”, FULL OUT), Oscar-nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG, STAR TREK BEYOND), Lauren Holly (DUMB AND DUMBER, “NCIS”) and Giacomo Gianniotti (“Grey’s Anatomy”, “Station 19”).
Luis (Louis Gossett Jr.) is one of Mina’s (Ana Golja) most enigmatic patients. To Mina’s surprise, her humming ignites a spark inside Luis and he begins to awaken. As each day passes, Luis reacts, reminisces, dances, and talks more and more. Their friendship blossoms – through his stories, Luis reveals his colorful past as a famous Cuban musician.
Part of THE CUBAN was filmed in Havana. Director Sergio Navarretta said, “Cuba is a magical place, and shooting there is a story in itself. Capturing that magic was an incredible part of the experience”.
Part of the music team comprised legendary Grammy-nominated and Juno winning pianist Hilario Duran. Roberto Occhipinti produced the score. The star of the film Ana Golja performed the vocals on various tracks. The sound team (Oscar-nominated team from SHAPE OF WATER) was led by Nelson Ferreira.
