Indeed’s Rising Voices Continues Its Support For Filmmakers
Indeed’s Rising Voices Is Doubling Down On DEI With The Launch Of Season 5
Many companies have publicly retreated from their performative DEI initiatives and commitments. However, Indeed, the world’s #1 job site, is not backing down. They are committed to building a better and more equitable future of work for all, especially in the entertainment industry. Indeed is announcing its fifth season of Rising Voices. This is a filmmaker program that has focused on amplifying underestimated voices. These voices are often behind and in front of the camera since day 1.
Indeed’s Rising Voices program started as a launchpad. It has supported talented Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) filmmakers. It provides them with opportunities to make their mark in the industry. They tell nuanced, bold, real,, and impactful stories that you don’t see anywhere else. In just five years, the program’s achievements speak volumes:
- Unmatched Financial Support: Rising Voices goes above and beyond typical film program funds. Each season, ten filmmakers receive a production budget of up to $100,000. They also receive $5,000 for writing and $5,000 for directing. This financial support far exceeds the average $25,000 award from other programs.
- Job Creation: Since its launch in 2021, Rising Voices has helped boost the careers of numerous filmmakers. It has funded the production of 40 short films. In the process, 2,000 jobs were created.
- Feature Film Success: The program’s impact extends far beyond short films. Rising Voices alumni have gone on to produce feature films, solidifying the program’s reputation for nurturing future industry leaders.
- Industry Recognition: Rising Voices short films have garnered prestigious industry awards. These include Imagen Foundation Awards, Humanitas Prize, and Hollyshorts Film Festival. Such accolades showcase the program’s ability to foster exceptional talent and storytelling.
This fifth season further solidifies Indeed’s commitment. The aim is to create equal opportunities for filmmakers. These filmmakers are just as talented as their white counterparts. Submissions for Season 5 are open now through October 27 at Indeed.com/risingvoices.
