“Beyond Black Beauty” Premieres All 11 Episodes On Tuesday, October 15th On Primevideo
Beyond Black Beauty is produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment, Leif Films, Saga Film, and Amazon MGM Studios. It is executive produced by Pilar Golden, Carla de Jong, Blair Powers, and J.J. Johnson, Leif Bristow, Agnes Bristow, Hubert Toint, Christin Simms. Pilar Golden serves as the series creator, executive producer and showrunner.
Beyond Black Beauty follows young equestrian Jolie Dumont. Her Olympic dreams are dashed when her mother moves them from Belgium to her family’s urban ranch in Baltimore. An angry Jolie wants to escape until she bonds with a spirited horse named Black Beauty. Jolie will learn to embrace her heritage. She will continue toward her Olympic-hopeful future. She will also discover the value of family and home.
About Pilar
Pilar (Carmen’s preferred alias) originated in PG County, Maryland, but has
spent most of her life in Los Angeles. She is indeed a valley girl where street tacos
are life. Still, she’ll be the first to tell you there’s nothing like a good fish fry. Pilar
studied screenwriting at Loyola Marymount despite her mother’s best efforts.
Pilar got her big break as a staff writer on SyFy’s Defiance. She has since staffed on Hawaii Five-0, The Oath, God Friended Me, and Max’s Gossip Girl. She is now the creator and showrunner for Prime Video’s Beyond Black Beauty. She has developed for Robin Roberts and BET. She is now developing multiple projects with CBS, NBC, and Sony for their 2025-2026 slate. In 2016, the WGA honored her for their TV Writer Access Project. She completed the program under Glen Mazzara’s leadership. In her free time, she watches too much TV, and pretends she’ll be on Top
Chef, and does the unthinkable… write (eeek, the shame!) as it is her dream to
work on Friday Night Lights.
