Eric Nazarian is an acclaimed filmmaker, screenwriter, and social impact advocate. He graduated with honors from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded him the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting for his screenplay, Giants. We had the opportunity to chat with Eric to learn more about the making of “Die Like a Man”.
Die Like a Man is a powerful rite of passage story. It explores the aftereffects of gun violence in a rapidly gentrifying Westside Los Angeles neighborhood. While making the film, he initiated a social impact audiovisual literacy program to combat gun violence in at-risk communities.

About Eric’s Work:
His debut feature, The Blue Hour, starred Alyssa Milano and Clarence Williams III. It premiered at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. It also premiered at the Torino Film Festival. The film won multiple awards on the festival circuit. He co-wrote Three Christs. It stars Richard Gere, Peter Dinklage, and Julianna Margulies. The film was directed by Jon Avnet and released by IFC Films. The film is adapted from Milton Rokeach’s seminal work, The Three Christs of Ypsilanti.
His film Tatanka highlights the Oglala Lakota mothers of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) movement and showcases the healing power of the buffalo. It premiered at the Rome Film Festival and was part of a global anthology that explores human and animal life amid climate change.
Eric Nazarian has directed Morgan Freeman in a public service announcement honoring the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). He also helmed the short film ChiCAAgo, which features Carrie Fisher, Brendan Fraser, Zach Braff, and Alec Baldwin. As a photojournalist, his work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Written By, MovieMaker, and AIM.
Nazarian was recently selected for Marcus Lyon’s social impact art project, Alta / A Human Atlas of a City of Angels. This selection recognized his creative contributions and acknowledged his social impact. The project features 100 extraordinary individuals who are driving positive change across Los Angeles County. It premiered at the Getty in October 2024.
