Best Global Music Album (68th Annual GRAMMY Awards®)
New Delhi-based singer–composer–producer Siddhant Bhatia has earned his first GRAMMY® nomination for Sounds of Kumbha in the Best Global Music Album category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. A large-scale, immersive project, Sounds of Kumbha spans 12 songs and brings together 50 global artists, translating the spiritual intensity of the Mahakumbh into a modern listening experience. It blends ancient mantras, live field recordings, and binaural beats—with textures drawn from river flow, chanting crowds, temple bells, dawn footsteps, and moments of stillness.
A sonic portrait of the Kumbh — built from living sound

Dedicated to the Mahakumbh held in Prayagraj, the album is inspired by the Kumbh Mela tradition—often described as the “Festival of the Sacred Pitcher,” a major Hindu pilgrimage celebrated on cycles associated with Jupiter’s revolution. Rather than simply documenting the event, Bhatia’s production frames it as a sound-world: devotional vocals and mantra-based motifs meet location-recorded ambience and carefully designed spatial audio elements—aiming to make listeners feel present inside the gathering.
Seven producers, one vision
One of the album’s defining strengths is its collaboration—guided by seven producers:
- Jim “Kimo” West
- Raghav Mehta
- Madi Das
- Ron Korb
- Charu Suri
- Devraj Sanyal
…alongside Bhatia himself.
The project also features standout contributions from acclaimed Indian and international artists, including GRAMMY winners and nominees such as V Selvaganesh and Raja Kumari.
A special highlight is the involvement of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, whose presence and participation have been widely noted as a meaningful spiritual anchor for the record. Sounds of Kumbha was commissioned by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, produced in collaboration with Network18 and HistoryTV18, and is globally distributed by Universal Music India.
Bhatia’s nomination arrives during a highly visible year for Indian-origin artists in global and fusion spaces, alongside names such as Anoushka Shankar and Shakti—reflecting India’s rising influence across global, classical, fusion, and contemporary categories. Bhatia has described the nomination as a shared cultural moment—one that reflects not only personal recognition, but also a wider spotlight on Indian spirituality, heritage, and artistic scale on the world stage.
