“A Blind Bargain,” a new psychological thriller from writer-producer-director Paul Bunnell, is bringing a lost silent-era horror title back into circulation for contemporary audiences.

The film, inspired by the long-lost 1922 Lon Chaney feature of the same name, stars Crispin Glover and Jake Horowitz and is set in 1970. Shot on Kodak film, the feature blends period styling with psychological suspense and cult sensibilities.

Horowitz plays Dominic Fontaine, a Vietnam veteran struggling with addiction and debt who enters into a desperate arrangement that places his mother in the care of Dr. Gruder (Glover), a physician conducting radical research aimed at reversing the aging process.

The cast also includes Lucy Loken, Annalisa Cochrane, Amy Wright, Sean Whalen, Jed Rowen and Rob Mayes. The project has already made a stop on the festival circuit, winning Best Feature Film at the 2025 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival and screening as an Official Selection of FrightFest 2025.

A Blind Bargain

“A Blind Bargain” opened in New York on April 24 and will bow in Los Angeles on May 8, with additional cities expected to be announced. Bunnell co-wrote the screenplay with John E. Falotico, based on a story by Bing Bailey. Bunnell and Bailey produced, with John Duffy serving as co-producer and Falotico executive producing.

The original “A Blind Bargain” remains one of the more sought-after lost works associated with Chaney’s career, with only limited promotional materials known to have survived. Presented by John E. Falotico, the new film runs 95 minutes and is not rated.
