“Against The Night” Opens In Select Markets September 15th

Against The Night

AGAINST THE NIGHT is a psychological thriller that tests the boundaries of trust as nine friends sneak into an abandoned prison to film a ghost hunting video. When their friend, Hank, disappears, everyone is pointing fingers and placing blame until they realize they may not be alone.

I would say this film is more horror than psychological thriller and it is a story-line we have seen before, a group of friends go to an abandoned prison to make a movie that will lead to bigger projects. Hank an eager filmmaker( played by Luke Persiani ) offers his friends $200 each to help him make the film to jump start his career. And Hank feels there are only  two options: make a porn film or do a ghost hunting movie.

So “Ghost Hunting ” it is and Hank has already chosen the location, an abandoned prison which is quite scary and really creepy  and you can  almost feel really bad things will happen.  Once inside Hank tell his friends about the gruesome experiments that were conducted on the prisoners which is enough to make any sane person say take your money and shove it. But then we wouldn’t have a horror film to watch.

Though some are reluctant Hank tells them they need to separate  so they can each place cameras around the prison to capture any ghost activity. But soon after they start disappearing one by one and they all start blaming and accusing each other. There are some truly terrifying moments in the film and other choices I still am not sure about with some characters.  However all the actors did a fine job and I envision that Brian Cavallaro can create quite a horror fan club of followers with his next film.

AGAINST THE NIGHT is directed by Emmy Award winning and CLIO nominated commercial director Brian Cavallaro and features Hannah Kleeman, Tim Torre, and Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction, Vacancy, Swimming with Sharks).  The film was produced by Brian Cavallaro and Arielle Brachfeld, and co-produced by Mike Mendez and Hank Braxton.

AGAINST THE NIGHT will be released theatrically in LA, NY and additional select markets on September 15.  The film has a running time of 86 minutes and will not be rated by the MPAA.
