“Supermom,” is the “must see” (Palm Springs Life) four time award-winning short film about a daughter who believes her mother is a real life super hero – she might be right. It stars John Hensley (star of “Nip/Tuck,” “Teeth,” etc.), and Justine Herron (“Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain”). ‘Supermom will screen June 10th, 2017 at TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California.
In five months of festivals, “Supermom” is an Official Selection at 20 international festivals, has won “Best Short Film – Youth” and “Best Actor – John Hensley,” (IIFC) and “Best Director” (Apex Film Festival), “Silver Palm Award” at the Mexico International Film Festival, as well as being nominated for eight other awards.
“Supermom” tells the story of a too-often overlooked group of people – our first responders and how their families deal with the possibility of not knowing whether or not a parent will be coming home at night. The Los Angeles Fire Department officially helped us make this film, donating various resources; they believed in it that strongly. The superhero character in “Supermom” is a metaphor for children who have parents, especially mothers, with jobs where they might not come home at night. It is also a diverse story about breaking the mold of what “mother” is supposed to be.
