“Do you know where your children are? Well, you might be asking those questions a lot after watching “MA.” In this Blumhouse Productions Oscar® winner, Octavia Spencer stars as Sue Ann, a loner who keeps to herself in her quiet Ohio town. One day, she approached by Maggie, a new teenager in town (Diana Silvers, Glass), to buy some booze for her and her friends, and Sue Ann sees the chance to make some unsuspecting if younger, friends of her own.

She offers the kids the chance to avoid drinking and driving by hanging out in the basement of her home. But there are some house rules: One of the kids has to stay sober. Don’t curse. Never go upstairs. And call her “Ma.”

Directed by Tate Taylor(The Help and Get On Up, ) and written by Scotty Landes (Comedy Central’s Workaholics) “MA” takes on a ride between comedy and terror as MA skillfully plays on the emotions and insecurities of her new teen friends.

Using the lure of alcoholic and turning her basement into the ultimate party hangout spot the teens revel in the freedom to do things they can’t do at home like party hard and get drunk. However, it starts to become clear to Maggie that “MA” may not be what she seems. Olivia shows us how easy it is to shift from ordinary to psychotic when her new found camaraderie with the group began to unravel. In many of her close-ups, her eyes say it all…” if looks could kill.”

With an inevitable turn of events, it begins to emerge that the teens are offspring of some of the adults that bullied MA in High School. When MA finally traps the teens, the horror of the past explodes like a volcano.

If “MA” has a message, well it’s pretty clear alcohol, and teens are not the right mix, and the sins of the fathers shall be visited upon the son….need we say more.

The film also stars Juliette Lewis (August: Osage County) as Maggie’s mom, Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast) as a local dad, Missi Pyle (Gone Girl) as his girlfriend, and McKaley Miller (TV’s Hart of Dixie), Corey Fogelmanis (TV’s Girl Meets World), Gianni Paolo (TV’s Power) and Dante Brown (Lethal Weapon TV series) as Maggie’s friends.

“MA” opens in theaters, Friday, May 31st
