America’s Got Talent First Spoken Word Winner, Brandon Leake to Release “A Family Affair”, A New Documentary of his life on The CW Network on June 19 at 9pm ET
This Father’s Day, The CW Network will release a new heartwarming documentary, A FAMILY AFFAIR, which takes an intimate look at America’s Got Talent winner Brandon Leake’s life through the medium of poetry. Hailing from Stockton, CA, Leake was raised by a single mother and initially was set on a course to play basketball. Ultimately, he traded his sneakers for a pen and began to pursue “his calling”. A FAMILY AFFAIR takes audiences on a journey through his hometown of Stockton, CA, using Brandon’s unique blend of humor and depth. Brandon connects his personal experiences to universal themes of community, loss, love, and hope.
Leake’s spoken word art is both personal and insightful, ranging from a varied list of topics. Whether acknowledging his grief after losing his sister or commenting on police brutality in our society, his words serve as commentary as well as inspiration.
ABOUT A FAMILY AFFAIR:
Brandon Leake is an Award-Winning spoken word artist who won the hearts of America and beyond as a contestant and ultimately the winner of “America’s Got Talent” Season 15. He was the first spoken word poet to be featured on the show and he received the Golden Buzzer award in the first round from Howie Mandel.
In March 2022, his debut poetry collection titled UNRAVELING was released, and earned the No.1 best-selling poetry book in Black & African American Poetry category on Amazon. Through poetry, Leake vulnerably shares his journey in learning about himself and offers words to aid the reader in their own introspection. The mindful and unapologetic pieces explore beauty and how it can exist in both the brightest and darkest of places.
Leake is also the founder of Called To Move – CTM, an artistry organization to aid youth in self-actualizing and personally developing through the art of poetry. This pursuit has led him to not only lead workshops around the world with the curriculum he developed himself but to also teach youth in his hometown of Stockton, Calif.
