‘Making The American Man’ makes a powerful statement about the fate of manufacturing goods in America as well as what it means to be a ‘Man’ in America. Powerful, insightful and touching filmmaker Gregory Caruso gives us a glimpse of America that many of us have forgotten: by showcasing some of the most talented artisans and entrepreneurs in America we get to take an extraordinary journey that focuses on traditional values that makes America unique. With over 35 interviews these trendsetters shed light on the meaning on masculinity today and how images of men’s style is being redefined by the new generation.

GREGORY CARUSO (Director/Producer)
Gregory was born and raised in Los Angeles and has a true appreciation for the history of film, specifically The Golden Age of Cinema from 1925-1950. He believes some of the most inspirational, stylized, beautiful way of storytelling flourished during that period. He is interested in the history of America and has been primarily influenced by the documentarian Ken Burns. His favorite directors historically include Alfred Hitchcock, François Truffaut, Billy Wilder, Frank Capra, Sidney Lumet, William Wyler, Howard Hawks, John Ford and currently – Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood, Wes Anderson, and Spike Jonze.
CAILIN LOWRY (Producer)
Born in the South to Yankee parents and raised in Asia, the documentary has given Cailin the opportunity to get in touch with her American roots. While at USC, in addition to producing several short films and music videos, Cailin had the privilege of working at the Sundancer Institute and learning from the professionals in the acclaimed Feature Film Program division.
