CBS’ Daytime Emmy Award-winning talk show THE TALK features a panel of entertainment personalities discussing current events, pop culture, family, celebrities, and trending topics of the day. The daily one-hour series is hosted by Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, and Sheryl Underwood.
“The Young and the Restless” star Mishael Morgan reflects on her historical Daytime Emmy win becoming the first Black actress to win for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series. “It’s been incredible,” said Morgan on “The Talk” Monday. “It means everything. It means that my hard work has paid off. And I feel like, when I was a kid, my dad always told me, you need to be 10 times better because you’re black, just to be seen as equal. And I hope this step forward shows that we can be equal. We’re getting to a place where more of us can just be our best and that’s enough.” She adds, “When I was a little girl I was an immigrant, and that means that you need to pick a job and a dream that is stable, and I was going to be an attorney…and God intervened and I decided to become an actor and I didn’t understand why, and then, I really truly think it’s because storytellers, they have a way impacting and changing, influencing a world so much faster.” On how she celebrated her historical win, she reveals, “A lot of alcohol was involved…had a little after-party and a lot of pizza back the hotel room with a bunch of friends.”
Monday on “The Talk” Eva Mendes shares more reactions to her husband Ryan Gosling’s Ken look for his upcoming “Barbie” film. “I saw the photo and the 14-year-old in me was like ‘ahhhh’. It’s a funny photo and he’s trying to be funny, so it worked on all levels. But when I saw it…I said, ‘Can I please have that underwear, please’…I do have it. I’m wearing it right now.” On the debate over Gosling’s platinum look for the role, she says, “People do know he’s not playing a real person, right? He’s playing a fake person.” After host Jerry O’Connell appears on stage in his version of Gosling’s Ken doll look, Eva reacts, “I feel like my man has started a real renaissance, like a Ken-aissance.” Reacting to a meme that has Gosling side by side with Ken, she jokes, “Well, I definitely want to spend my nights with the grey man and then spend my days with Ken. That’s a party, because Ken is fun, and the grey man, you know.”
