COVID-19 and April 10 Property Tax Deadline
These days are quite challenging for all of us with especially with the extended “Stay at Home” mandate. Hopefully, this will be over in the next few months!
This is a gentle reminder that Property Taxes are due today, April 10th and wanted to share the following question which is answered by the Los Angeles County Tax Assessors Office:
Can I request a penalty cancellation if I am unable to make a timely payment due to COVID-19?
Yes. However, a penalty cancellation is not something that taxpayers request in advance. Beginning on April 11, the day after property taxes become delinquent, taxpayers unable to pay on time for reasons related to COVID-19 may submit a request for penalty cancellation on our website. The department has set up a special team to process these requests for those who demonstrate they were affected by the outbreak.
If you can’t make your property taxes payment by April 10, 2020, fill out the Penalty Cancellation Request form, here
If you are a Renter and have family, friends, and colleagues who are homeowners, please share this information with them! Remember: Be Safe! Be Well! Be Positive!
