There’s nothing like getting home after a long day, kicking off your shoes…taking off your bra… (can I get an A-men)… and putting on a good face mask that will have you feeling, pampered, energized, and glowing!
This DIY Turmeric face mask is great for the skin when you just need a little pick-me-up! With just three basic ingredients that are most probably in your kitchen right now, you can have clear and glowy skin! All you need is… turmeric spice, yogurt, and honey! Just make sure to use gloves if you are touching the turmeric mixture because turmeric can leave a yellow stain!
Turmeric is a healthy spice that has been used for many years in most middle eastern cooking. However, turmeric is not only healthy for our insides… it’s great for our skin too!!! Most of the spice’s benefits come from Curcumin, an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal. So basically, it helps with acne, anti-aging, skin brightening, and inflammation. I recommend putting in a teaspoon of turmeric or more however keep in mind that an excessive amount can leave a stain.
The next step is to start mixing in your yogurt. Yogurt is great because the lactic acid in yogurt dissolves dead skin cells and exfoliates the skin, while it helps decrease the sight of wrinkles. The gentle smoothness of yogurt is what makes this mask easy on your skin, not drying, and great to use more than once a week! I like to use greek yogurt for this mask because of its thicker consistency. Add in as much as you want to get a good amount to cover the face and upper neck area.
The third ingredient, honey, is basically your skin’s BFF! Honey has amazing benefits including moisturizing, anti-aging, and super soothing effects! I recommend a tablespoon of honey to really get that smooth consistency.
I love making this mask when my skin is looking a bit dull and I feel like it needs to be wakened up! I do not recommend keeping this mask on for over 15 minutes because the turmeric spice has a tendency to stain. Personally, to clean the mask off, I use a bamboo towel (a soft facial towel that is so amazing and soft.. I got mine from amazon) to wash my face. Make sure to clean it off very well as the turmeric may be a bit stubborn to get out. But don’t let that discourage you because this mask will seriously have you feeling amazing!
